DSA Funding Transition

As of October 1, 2018 (first day of Fall Quarter), the DSA will be initiating a new funding structure. These changes are designed to streamline the funding process and open up more funding opportunities to more students.

Notable Changes:

  • The application and reimbursement procedure has changed. Please read the instructions below carefully for these details.
  • The types of grants and the activities that qualify have changed. Please refer the relevant application form on the DSA website for a complete list of expenses that are eligible for grant reimbursement.
  • Any outstanding reimbursement requests for the 2017-2018 academic year must be submitted by JUNE 15, 2018.

The DSA will offer four types of grants.

  1. Swift Cares
  • The Swift Cares grant, launched by the DSA in 2014, will remain the same. Students will be able to apply for this grant through the Dean of Students office via a new form (link above). Applications should be sent directly to the Dean of Students.
  1. Student-Run Conference Grant
  • DSA is proud to continue to support student-run conferences around the university. Priority will be given to conferences with significant Divinity School student involvement (both planning and presenting). Priority will also be given to conferences involving Divinity students (planning and/or presenting) and/or to topics and themes related to the academic study of religion. Applications will be evaluated by the DSA Board. The new formalized application form can be found at the link above. Please send applications and inquiries to .
  1. Large-Scale Grant
  • DSA will now offer a large-scale grant for expenses incurred for travel related to presenting at conferences, off-campus language study, and academic research. Applications will be evaluated by the DSA Board. The new application form can be found at the link above.
  • Students are required to submit an application for funding at least 1 month prior to the dates during which the award will be used. For applications that are approved, students must submit reimbursement forms and receipts no later than 3 months after the dates during which the reimbursable expenses occurred.   1. Small-Scale Grant
  • DSA will now offer a small-scale grant for a variety of educational, pedagogical, and professional opportunities. Applications will be evaluated by the DSA Board. The new application form can be found at the link above.
  • Students are required to submit an application for funding at least 1 month prior to the dates during which the award will be used. For applications that are approved, students must submit reimbursement forms and receipts no later than 3 months after the dates during which the reimbursable expenses occurred. Transition

The DSA will accept reimbursements under the previous funding structure until JUNE 15, 2018. Students may reimbursements under the previous funding structure to Americia Huckabee () for any expenses incurred this academic year (Fall Quarter 2017 – Spring Quarter 2018).

DSA will also accept applications for summer funding for Summer 2018 until JUNE 15, 2018. Student should apply under the new funding structures, using the new forms. Students may submit applications for summer funding to the DSA at .
