Types of Funding

The Divinity Students Association offers funding in multiple forms to support the students of the Divinity School. We no longer offer funding for students attending academic conferences, as the Dean of Students office has stepped in to offer this support for students. If you need funding to attend a conference, please reach out to divinitydos@uchicago.edu.

Club Funding

The DSA provides clubs with financial assistance each year to help foster community through events, book clubs, care packages, and any other club-sponsored activity. Club leaders can find more information about club funding, budgets, and reimbursement below.

Student-Run Conference Grant

This grant can be used by any University of Chicago student for expenses incurred organizing, hosting, and running an academic conference at the University of Chicago.

Wellness Initiative Grant

Wellness Grant requests can be initiated by individuals or small groups of interested students; these requests are usually independent of affinity groups or student organizations who have their own funding models. Wellness Grant funding is typically used for resources designed to help students promote wellbeing and community building.

Reading Group Grant

This grant can be used by any University of Chicago student for the purchase of books for informal, student-led discussions. Requests for a reading group grant are usually independent of affinity groups or student organizations who have their own funding models.

Grounds of Being Fellowship

This fellowship, established jointly by the Divinity Students Association and Grounds of Being, is awarded annually to support a student in any program at the Divinity School who is pursuing research or supplementary training in their academic field during the summer.
